Abstract

As the Extension and 4-H programs across the country were sent reeling in March of 2020 due to Covid 19 cancelling and postponing events and traditional educational efforts, Arkansas 4-H quickly pivoted our educational efforts to online and social media. This effort involved 4-Hers, county agents, and state 4-H staff. Within days we were turning out educational videos geared towards youth and adults who were trying to wrap their minds and househols around this growing pandemic as schools and businesses closed. Between March 23rd and February 15th we turned out 31 outdoor skills videos across all social media platforms reaching well over 60,000 people. These videos were released on timely topics such as Covid Education, ATV/UTV safety, Firearm Storage, Vehicle safety, campfire cooking, hunting and tree stand safety, Chainsaw safety, and Lawn trimmer basics. Again these were geared toward parents and youth at home during a pandemic who were craving outdoor adventure in a rural and outdoor recreation driven state.
