Recognizing the growing importance of drone technology, the Jeff Davis Parish Advisory Leadership Council identified drone education as a critical need. In response, a multi-parish drone conference was organized through collaboration among three LSU AgCenter Extension Agents from the Southwest Region of Louisiana. The event was supported by sponsorships and a trade show registration fee, enabling comprehensive educational experience. Presenters included experts from LSU AgCenter Research and Extension Service as well as the Louisiana Department of Agriculture Forestry, who shared current insights on agricultural drone applications. Key topics covered included: best practices for spray drone operations, herbicide and pesticide application techniques, remote sensing for field monitoring and scouting, and both (FAA) and Louisiana state regulations governing drone use in agriculture. The conference attracted over 40 participants from nine parishes, representing rice, cattle, crawfish, and soybean producers, along with commercial drone applicators. The trade show featured multiple commercial vendors and drone equipment suppliers. Post-event questionnaire evaluation indicated 90% of the attendees strongly agreed or agreed that the conference effectively enhanced their understanding of drone selection, application techniques, and regulatory compliance.
