Abstract
The AR 4-H Mobile Woodworking Training Lab is designed to introduce youth to a wide range of woodworking skills, trades, entrepreneurship, hobbies, and other related fields. The Mobile Lab was created so that County Agents could incorporate these programs into their county programs. Over 250 youth have created projects through the use of the Mobile Lab since 2021. Youth have created projects such as pens, cutting boards/coasters, bandsaw boxes, rocking chairs, and signs. The Mobile Lab consists of two 20’ x 8’ CellTech trailers. Each trailer is equipped with power, outlets, lights, and tiedowns. All equipment is on wheels so that it can be mixed an matched based on the counties programming needs. Equipment that can be checked out includes, but is not limited to: lathes, planers, jointers, orbital sanders, palm routers, drum sanders, drill presses, scroll saws, bandsaws, compound miter saw, table saw, and clamps. Depending on needs that the counties have on where they are conducting programming, they can also check out generators, fans, and lights. County agents must attend in service training in order to check the equipment out in order to help ensure proper safety measures are taken to keep youth safe while utilizing the equipment.
