Job Description:
Provides swine expertise and information to the pork production industry in Ohio; serves as an educator, provider of research-based information, needs assessor, and problem solving resource for pork industry clientele; coordinate the online Ohio Pork Industry Center; participates as part of a group of educators for swine educational program development and implementation throughout the state; maintains a level of expertise that compliments Ohio's pork industry mission and goals; implements communication efforts with Extension personnel and pork industry via electronic swine reports/updates, magazine articles, etc.; organizes efforts to develop action plans that serve the pork industry and communities for improving swine production and profitability, contribute to sustainable and environmentally sound operations, and advancing animal well-being and health; organizes and coordinates swine educational activities for youth throughout the state; participates in applied research and on-farm demonstrations pertinent to swine profitability in cooperation with OSU researchers and specialists.
Required Qualifications:
Livestock farm management experience and a minimum of two years of outreach education or comparable commercial experience required; demonstrated effective leadership ability; experience working with industry leaders; demonstrated ability to work with independent and integrated operations; effective communication skills

Responsibilities:
75% Provide swine expertise and information to the pork production industry in Ohio; serve as an educator, provider of research-based information, needs assessor, and problem solving resource for pork industry clientele; Participate as part of a group of educators for swine educational program development ad implementation throughout the state for adults and youth; organize efforts to develop action plans that serve the pork industry and communities for improving swine production and profitability, contribute to sustainable and environmentally sound operations, and advancing animal well-being and health.
15% Implement communication efforts with Extension personnel and pork industry via electronic swine reports/updates, magazine articles, etc.; coordinate the online Ohio Pork Industry Center.
10% Participate in applied research and on-farm demonstrations pertinent to swine profitability in cooperation with OSU researchers and specialists.
