Abstract

Spanish is the second most spoken language in the United States, yet it varies widely by region, migration history, and cultural identity. These differences influence how individuals interpret guidance, assess risk, and trust institutions. We present practical resources for Extension professionals across agriculture, health, and youth programs. The tool synthesizes literature on cultural humility, distinctions between translation and interpreting, criteria for selecting qualified language professionals, and recommended actions for program planning, delivery, and evaluation. We provide examples, implementation tips, equity considerations, and metrics to support program improvement. This resource is adaptable and aligned with national standards.
