Abstract
This study assesses employee needs and satisfaction of the Cooperative Extension Service at New Mexico State University to enhance statewide extension programs. An online survey using quantitative and qualitative data evaluated collaboration, training and resources, administration, outreach, and organizational culture. Findings revealed high satisfaction with the outreach mission, inclusivity, and reaching new populations, but concerns about employee turnover, research collaboration, and opportunities for more administrative engagement.
Recommendations include better use of Agricultural Experiment Station facilities, improved communication, and employee retention. The study offers a replicable model for other state CES programs to identify internal needs and strengthen program effectiveness.
